Review: Make Up For Ever HD invisible cover foundation

Last month we celebrated the Mr's parents 30th wedding anniversary.  A huge milestone!  And what milestone would there be without flash photography.  In preparation for this joyous event, I decided to pick up the ever famous Make Up For Ever HD invisible cover foundation in shade 127.  It is probably one of the most coveted and talked about high end foundation on the web.  Unfortunately for me, it was a flop.  The fondation applies easily, blends beautifully, layers seamlessly and gives medium to full coverage but for an oil slick monster like myself it does not leave me matte.  I looked like a greaseball after 2 hours. I spent a lot of time blotting away and stressing about grease on my face, wishing I had pre-tested this foundation prior to the big day.  Yes, I know.  Common sense right?  I just ran out of time.  If you are dry or have combo skin you will love this foundation. For oily ladies stay away.

Daily Randomess:
-sweater season is here!! Best sweater season I have ever seen  in years.  Well done retailers!
-I am totally hooked on the show Revenge. Watched 2 1/2 seasons in 2 weeks!! Go Emily Thorne!  Have any other tv suggestions? I have only a few episodes to go!
-damn! My nails look good!  Came across a killer combo.  Will be posting this next week.  Stay tuned!

July fav!

There's no question about it ...Ready, Set GORGEOUS foundation takes the cake.  It was literally love at first application.  It goes on smooth, blends easily, feels light on and leaves me matte. Love it! On the weekends I slap on one layer for a more fresh look and on the week days I apply two layers for a more polished look.  It is so versatile and looks amazing on especially with the coordinating powder.  I am truly impressed.  Hands down the best drug store foundation I have ever come across.  If you are a grease monster like myself, what are you waiting for?  You need this in your life!!

Daily Randomness:
-I'm addicted to Naked and Afraid.  I'm inspired!  Totally going to try to make fire using the bow drill this weekend!
-I'm free from the witch!! I've been in work hell for the last few months and today I'm free. New work day rocks!!
-what a view!  The Mr and I are trying really hard to keep up with our work out routine.  Check out the view from our hike today! Gorg!

May favs!

I'm joining the favorites band wagon!  I know ... it's the middle of June but the truth is i started this post at the end of May but somehow got distracted.  I blame my staycation!  Instead of listing every favorite item for the month I thought i would keep it short and sweet.   This month's favorite item goes to the bareMinerals Matte face powder.  This stuff is AMAZING!  Trust me i don't use that word lightly.  I have been hunting to find a face power that will mattify yet not look cakey.  This stuff is the answer. The powder is so fine that it blends like a dream.  It holds up pretty much the entire day.  I still have to blot ... but less often when using this powder. If you are an oily monster like myself this item needs to be added to your "to try" list.  If you are less oily and more on the dry side i would recommend you try the original version.  It has more of an luminous finish.

I purchased my bareMinenerals Matte face powder at Sephora for $34.  Well worth every penny!

Daily randomness:
-I went to Target to return an item and ended up leaving the store with 2 bags of goodies!  My favourite purchase being their conversational printed cardigans.  I'm rocking one today!  They make me smile!
-arrrrgggg .. is it Friday yet?  Been one of those kinds of days!

What happened: Revlon colorstay 330 Natural Tan

3 months ago i ran out of my fav foundation.  I searched high and low for my shade; 330 Natural tan with no luck.  I even emailed Revlon Canada and Facebooked them to inquire about my missing shade and still got no where.  This weekend while the Mr & I were touring wine country we decided to hop over the border. Our first stop was Target.  No luck!  The shelves were bare.  Our second stop was Wal-mart.  Still no luck but i did however manage to find shade 340.  Close but still no luck with shade 330. Our last stop was simply by chance.  As we were heading home i saw a bright red K illuminating from the corner of my left eye. This is where the last 2 bottles of shade 330 natural tan were purchased.  Yeh!!

My Yeh story ended yesterday night when i discovered the two bottles i picked up are not the same shade as my loved 330 at home.  See for yourself!  The top swatch is from the new bottle and the bottom swatch is from my loved bottle.  The new bottle has a red undertone while my loved bottle has more of a yellow undertone.

left: new bottle                    right: old bottle

What happened Revlon?  Why? Why? Why? Why did you do this?  Has this happened to anyone else??

Daily Randomness:
-it sure feels like spring today!  The sun is out  and the snow is melting fast!  Hip hip hooray winter is really over!
-rocking my new Fergie boots today!  I got these over the weekend at the Bay .. what a steal!  If you are looking for some new kicks definitely check out the Bay.

Review: Tarte Amazonian 12 hour full coverage foundation with spf 15

ahhhh!!! I'm a grease ball!! My oily complexion has been my long time Nemesis. After watching Casey Holmes and That's Heart a couple of my favorite youtube beauty guru's rave about this foundation i headed over to Sephora and decided to put it to the test myself. Unfortunately, i have nothing to rave about.  This foundation is probably one of the worst foundations I have ever tried.  I know it sounds a little harsh but this bugger left me looking slick & with pimples.  See for yourself.

The photo on the top right hand corner was taken right before lunch (3 hour wear time).  By the time I got home after my 9-5 gig the foundation started to seperate and look blotchy.  I applied this foundation with and without a primer and also set it with a setting spray.  I had high hopes for this one but sad to report this one goes in the forget it pile!

Daily randomness:
- I am so thankful for such a wonderful neighbor.  He shoveled my driveway again!!
- secretly hoping tomorrow is another snow day!
- new invite has been added to my Etsy store
